I've been using tts for years because anything to slow and my add makes me stop paying attention. This is WAY too slow. I'm used to listening to MS David at speed 10 but can go faster if I try. Speed 2 is useless.

It's very handy for listening to things. It could use a loop function. Also highlighting the words being spoken word by word would be good too. It would make studying very good. The resize ability is a bit wonky. Would be nice to be able to push the browser window in, instead of covering up the material in the browser.

Hi my name is Richard with Ezzy Shirts. I am giving this reader text to speech a 5, because it works great. I tried 4 others and they wouldn't work like this extension. The others would start great, but once they played for a few minutes it stopped working properly, meaning it would freeze or stop altogether. This extension has not frozen or stopped working. It's also great with all the options to speed up or slow down speed voice option or to change a readers voice. This really helps too listen to notes while I work. I have a business. My wife also has a business, which means I am the free labor, four kids, plus , I having a 2 jobs. This helps so must to multi-task. Great EXTENSION, so sweet.

After upgrading ChatGPT Plus, the summary function does not work anymore. Why & what's the solution?

i have been using it for 2 yrs now and it works out great i tried other extensions and apps but they don't work great like this one

I disagree with Zack and Adrian below. I started using it today, and I believe the extension does not properly explain how to use it. I was messing around with the features, and if you click on the 3 dots on the extension, and click "options", you can choose many options including many different voices. Now if you want more natural voices, you will have to pay. Also, if you highlight the text you want the app to read, and then right click, a new button should appear called "read text" with the extensions logo. But it I think it does have a text limit, so I highlight paragraphs instead of full pages. (not sure if the paid version does not have text limit) In addition, a new small control bar window will appear where you can change voices, speed, pause/play, minimize or expand the control bar window which I found helpful. (i think if you have restrictions to prevent pop-up windows, or the page you are using has the restriction, the control bar wont appear) Ill update the review in a few days if there are any issues

Seconding the review from Zack below. Just porting the text through language packs which doesn't add nuance or phrasing to the information is probably not what people are looking for.

Zack Simpson

These 5 star reviews are almost certainly fake, and especially the ones that say these voices sound "natural". They sound like computer voices sounded around the time of dial-up internet. Also false advertising of 'reading webpages'. Don't waste your time

Love this ?

cv

Perfect. Much better than speechify.

Angelique Bell

It's okay, but sometimes you have to input text manually (glad it's an option though) rather than just dragging the doc which can get annoying if you have to type a whole entire lengthy doc just to try and listen while you read. Certain PDF files for some reason are "Unreadable", and I don't quite understand why. While it is helpful sometimes, it can be a little finicky because it stops reading in the middle of a sentence sometimes as well. Just thought I would let you know about this, I don't want to mislead anyone who may or may not read this.

Stella Holt

Great free tool! If the bells and whistles of Speechify are not a concern; yet the option to control the reading speed is, this is the Chrome Extension for you!

zhaeniya Green

its ok but these other reviews seem fake ngl like for anyone reading this im the only decent reviewer
